The FULLERTON TEST (Senior Fitness Test) is recommended by the International Council of Sports Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE - CIEPSS) as exceptionally useful in the multidimensional assessment of physical fitness in older people (over 60 years of age). It allows you to observe the gradual decline in fitness with age. Assesses tolerance, strength and flexibility of the upper and lower body, as well as agility and balance. It consists of six tasks.
- Arm Curl Test
The goal is to assess upper body strength.
Preparation:
- weight in a more efficient hand,
- women 5lb – 2.27 kg (1lb – 0.45 kg),
- men 8lb – 3,363 kg
- 2 kg and 3.5 kg modification.
Final result: total number of correctly performed bends in 30 seconds.
- Back Scratch Test
The goal is to assess the flexibility of the upper body.
Preparation for the test:
- examination in a standing position,
- try to touch the middle fingers of both hands,
- measurement with a 30 cm long ruler.
Final result: the distance of overlap (+) or separation (-) between the tips of your middle fingers.
- 30 Second Chair Stand
The goal is to assess lower body strength.
Preparation for the test:
- sitting with your back straight,
- feet flat on the floor,
- on the "start" signal, get up and sit down as quickly as possible.
Final result: the total number of repetitions of a correctly performed action in 30 seconds.
- Chair Sit-and-Reach
The purpose of the exercise is to assess the flexibility of the lower body
The test consists of:
- while sitting, slowly bends over,
- tries to reach as far forward as possible, towards the feet,
- maintaining the bend for two seconds.
The final score is the distance from the fingertips to the toes or beyond the toes.
- 8 foot - up and go
The purpose of this test is to assess agility and balance.
Correct execution involves covering a distance of 3 meters as quickly as possible (but not running) and in the shortest possible time.
The final result is the time elapsed from the "start" signal to the moment the subject returns to the sitting position.
- 2-Minute Step-in-Place
The aim of the task is to assess exercise tolerance.
Execution begins on the "start" signal. The subject starts walking on the spot with his right leg, raising his legs alternately to an individually determined height (mid-thigh),
You can help maintain balance by leaning against a wall, chair, or table.
The final result is the number of right leg lifts.
