Adult education

ERASMUS+

An EU program that supports education, training, youth and sport in Europe. Its origins date back to 1998. The most important goal of the program is to provide broadly understood support to students, teachers, lecturers and volunteers in conducting international actions and projects that serve to improve competences.

The program is open to public and private institutions and organizations that support learning, both formal and non-formal, for people of all ages.

The 2021-2027 perspective has a budget estimated at EUR 26.2 billion. This is almost twice the amount of funding allocated for previous years. The new financial perspective also means new, extended assumptions of Erasmus+, which as a result has become more innovative and more digital.

ERASMUS+ ADULT EDUCATION

This sector is addressed to organizations and institutions that carry out activities for the development of adults in the non-vocational area, in the areas of formal, non-formal and informal education. The following entities may apply for funding under the program: general education schools for adults, universities of the third age, folk and open universities, as well as cultural institutions and non-governmental organizations, social welfare centers, employment offices and local authorities. Project participants may include staff of these organizations as well as adults participating in their educational activities.

Erasmus+ offers adult learners, educators and other non-vocational adult education staff a wide range of opportunities, knowledge, skills and competences. It can also provide access to further education for adults with fewer opportunities, e.g. those struggling with social and financial difficulties. For the adult education organizations, the program offers the opportunity to cooperate with many partners abroad so that they can become more open, dynamic and attractive. Project participants can improve their ability to operate in different environments, meet their needs and increase their readiness for further learning.

ACTION 2 COOPERATION OF ORGANIZATIONS AND INSTITUTIONS

Cross-border partnerships of various sizes and formats are supported. Partnerships always consist of organizations from different countries and are led by a coordinating organization that submits the application on behalf of the partnership.

All funded projects are linked to at least one broad European policy priority. In addition, project partners establish specific project objectives based on common interests and needs.

Objectives are often to build capacity by developing innovative tools and ways of working, exchanging good practice and developing links between education, business and civil society, with a focus on those with fewer opportunities. Two types of partnerships are designed to help organizations work, learn and develop together. However, our project focused on small-scale partnerships. They are a simpler format of cooperation, ideal for organizations operating locally, on a smaller scale and for new participants of the Erasmus+ program. These partnerships are created by at least two organizations from different countries for a period of six months to two years.
